Purpose of Remove link in Cart

After a recent update to the plugin, a link called “Remove” is next to each coupon in the cart and checkout page. Why was this link added? I do not understand why a customer would want to remove a coupon. The coupon is defined in the pricing rule and is applied automatically, so the link is confusing. Is there a way to get rid of this link?
