What is the difference between “Purge Cache (All Pages)” and “Purge Database Cache”?

Or rather, what does Purge Database Cache do?

I looked through the FAQ and Details document and couldn’t find a reference to it.

    Thank you!

Purge cache purges the files cached on the server. Those are copies of fully rendered web pages.

Purge DB cache shows up if you have a database cache plugin active (which your host may have done for you), and will empty the database’s cache. That’s generally going to be of any SQL queries your site has made (like searches etc). It makes your site run faster by not having to query the DB all the time, but can get ‘stuck’ and cause old settings to remain active when there are plugin conflicts.
