Pure Awesomeness

My 8 year old site was littered with “Broken Links” and “Outgoing Links to Parked Domains” along with links placed by a former partner, that were a seemingly impossible task to find them all and edit them out. Yesterday I was looking at the clicks on my site on Jetpack and found a click to a domain that was parked, and flew into a rage wanting my site clean. The only problem was Jetpack didn’t tell me the page the link was on and an educated guess of the category would have me looking at 10 or 20 posts it could be in. After years of catching them one by one and knowing there were dozens and dozens more I finally found Broken Link Checker, using it I quickly located the link in 2 posts, and am confident the pestilence has been eradicated once and for all.

I tried several others one was blocked by my security plug in (one of the more popular security plugins) and couldn’t scan, well that’s worthless lets delete that crap, they need to find a way around that issue. Another was only good for a partial scan and then I had to buy tokens for an outside site to send crawlers. Broken Link Checker is the “Real Deal” plain and simple I installed the plugin and let the scan run, checked back later and found a complete list of All Links, Broken Links, Warnings, and Redirects, the list of “All Links” was particularly valuable in finding the links the former partner had placed on the site, allowing me to clean up the mess once and for all, confidently knowing that I had found and removed every last one of them.
