purchased theme, want to get rid of author link

  • hello all. i recently elaborated on a great theme i purchased through elegant themes. i did pay for the theme and the author said that i did NOT have to link him at the bottom of my business site (it is not a site for creatives). i am going to leave the “powered by wordpress” there…but how do i edit out the author links?

    i am not very keen on wordpress yet, so please use as many layman’s terms as possible. thanks!

  • In the file footer.php, find and remove this text:
    | Designed by <a href="https://www.elegantthemes.com">Elegant Themes</a>

    i took that out, as directed and it’s still there! is it possible that i have to chmod anything first? it didn’t say that my edits wouldn’t be saved or anything…but it’s just not taking it out, no matter what i do!

    There should be no reason why its still there looking at your screenshot. You could remove with css but this will remove “powered by wordpress too”.
