I recently built a website with the same WP template I had used for other websites. This site/template always produces good search engine results.

My site was appearing on the first page of search engine results and then I purchased the premium yoast plugin and now it appears that my site has been banned by google altogether.

So the premium was support to help me with SEO, I followed the instructions and some tutorials and now my site doesn’t even show up on search results.

Other than reading a million posts online about how to optimise my site for SEO, can anybody tell me if this is common to be banned after you purchase the premium after I had been using the free one with better results?

  • Correlation does not imply causation. There’s no inherent feature in the pro version that would increase your chances of getting banned vs using the free version. The most likely bet is the site was infected with malware or violated a ToS, or you simply edited the content and now you rank for different keywords than before. Does Search Console show no pages indexed? Does Search Console show # of pages submitted from your sitemap? Search Console should tell you what ban if any is in effect and why.

What @thanewest said is true! There’s no reason Google will ban your site only because you upgraded to Yoast SEO Premium. You may check for any crawl errors from your Google Search Console. For further assistance, you can send an email directly to [email protected] for Premium support.

Can you tell me why google analytics says that nobody has visited my site but google console says there has been visitors?

Yoast SEO does not handle Google Analytics. That said, the most common reason would be that your site stopped loading the required Google Analytics code. Please contact the plugin developer that handles adding the code to your site.

I am the developer and the code has been entered and I’ve just confirmed it.

If you are experiencing an issue with your site’s Google Analytics code not connecting with Google properly and you are the developer then you would need to contact Google directly for support.
