• Hi,

This may well be a simple question or a repeated question, but I couldn’t find any simple solution to it – perhaps I just used the wrong terms!

What I want to do is this – I have an homepage at the root of my site which I want to use as a sort of portal for the latest blog posts, but it is on a separate directory to the WordPress Installation so I don’t think it is as simple as using get_post_meta. Maybe it is – I am too inexperienced to know better. I want to pull in the post title and the short description before the more tag and display that. I hope that’s clear and somebody can help me out ??

  • Are you familiar with working with RSS feeds?

Probably not to the level required. Is there any other option? Thanks for the response.

Your wordpress site which you want to pull data from will have a an rss feed. Here is an example: https://www.cec.fiu.edu/feed/
IN the site you want to receive this data you can use an RSS widget or an RSS embed in the page itself. Then you can set how many post you want to show and if you want an excerpt as well.

There also exist numerous plugins for “post” and how they are pulled into pages and themes.
