• I work as a freelancer for the Innovation Investment Journal (www.iijiij.com), which is on a premium version of WordPress.

A couple of months ago we decided to put the Publitweed widget onto the website. I grabbed the code and tested it on the website on one of the pages – all looked great. We then got the developers to tweak the widget to fit it into one of the columns on the website and this all seemed to work fine.

We’ve added the widget to our Home page and also into the Related Links column on all of the article pages. Everything works fine in Chrome and Firefox, but the widget won’t load at all in Internet Explorer.

I contacted the Publitweet team for help with this issue but they replied that they use Macs and don’t have this problem – and if I find a way of solving it to let them know!

I know the widget can be made to work in IE as Robert Scoble uses it on the Scobleizer blog (https://scobleizer.com/), although I’m not sure if he uses WordPress.

If anybody here uses WordPress and has managed to get the Publitweet widget to work in IE, I would be really greatful for some tips on how to do this.

  • What is a “premium version of WordPress”? Is this site hosted on wordpress.com?

Hi esmi, and thanks for the reply. The premium version of WordPress is not the free version and we host it outside of wordpress. It was hosted on Rackspace but we recently moved it to Dreamhost.

If you’d like to check the site in IE, you can find it at https://www.iijiij.com

Sorry? WordPress is free. There is no “premium version”.

Well that’s no answer at all! Is this a paid-for plugin?

No, not a paid-for plugin, but money has been spent on altering its size, etc to fit it into a column on the website. I don’t really want to remove the widget, but at the same time, I realise that the majority of people still use IE as a browser. The fact that the widget won’t load in IE is a real fail so if I can’t solve the problem, I’ll just have to remove the widget.

As for a “premium version” of WordPress, what I meant was an upgraded version of WP:

WordPress.com is not the same as this site, www.remarpro.com. This site is for Self Hosted WordPress, people who install it on their own servers. The .com site is for people hosted BY WordPress. So you can’t “buy” that version of WP, it’s not a version, it’s a hosting package.

Thanks for the replies here and sorry for any mistakes I’ve made on WordPress. The website I work on is owned by my employer, not by me.

However, I’m still trying to solve the problem of getting the Publitweet widget to work on Innovation Investment Journal (www.iijiij.com) in Internet Explorer.

If anybody knows how I can solve this problem, I would be really grateful for an answer.
