Publishing posts creates a comment

  • I have contacted the author of the Karma Template and they have looked through my site and cannot see why this is happening. It started in the past week or so.

    When I publish a post, a comment is created. It does not seem to happen every time. But it is a pattern. I do not have comments turned on in my settings, and I do not have them used on the post itself. I have disabled plugins and am in process of seeing if it re-occurs, but am hoping one of y’all may know what is happening and be able to help me shut it down, especially if it is indicative of a hack etc.

  • are these comments with texts, or just notifications?

    what is your setting under ‘discussion’:

    [] Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles

    I’m not sure what you’re asking re: comments with texts, or just notifications. When I click Comments, it shows the Author column as “Skepticism is not pessimism” and the link and ip address, then Comment column shows […]a snippet of the post is here[…], the In Response To column shows “Anticipatory Defensiveness” (which is another post on my blog) plus View Post and a talk bubble with a 0 in it with a red circle and a ‘1’ inside that. The Submitted on has date and time.

    The allow Link notifications box IS checked. . . I had wondered if I should change that, cannot remember why somebody encouraged me to leave it even if I’m not allowing comments.

    Thanks. I’ll be doing some updates and publishes tonight and will see if that fixes it. What’s odd is that has been checked the whole time, but perhaps something is happening with pings/trackbacks now that I’m getting things pushed to facebook, google plus, linkedin and twitter.
