publishing a draft page

Hi There,

I have been creating some draft pages in my site to gradually convert existing pages from classic editor to block editor, however I have had difficulty in making these draft pages live and workable from the main menu structure.

Once the draft pages were created, I unpublished the existing page and then published the new page after first changing the permalink in the new page to match that of the one just unpublished. The new pages appear in preview, however they do not appear when accessing the page from the menu structure on the web site. Looking at the URL, the permalink does not seem to have been saved.

I am clearly missing something or not following the correct process to replace a page – perhaps you could help?
