    Good morning,

I’ve generally had no issues with google publishing but a few days ago I noticed that google had stopped updating.

I can see that up to date pings have been sent, and also see the newer content in the feeds.

I’ve even tried creating new sections and after a while it loads, but with content that is 2-3 days old and is not including the latest content.

I’ve even tried disabling the caching / minify plugin being used on the site.

The last point in your guide asks to test it through the w3 validator and here is where it fails.

I am not sure if this has just happened with the latest update or even always been there but there are a few spaces before the XML declaration that are also visual when I load the feed in browser. Any idea if this could be causing our issue and why it may be happening?

    `Sorry
    This feed does not validate.

line 1, column 1: Blank line before XML declaration [help]

    <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?><rss version=”2.0″

In addition, interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendation.

line 212, column 0: style attribute contains potentially dangerous content: max-height (2 occurrences) [help]

I’ve sussed it. I went through and disabled other plugins and found one causing a bit of extra whitespace to be added. Must be a rogue bit of space in functions or something.

I’ve removed it and the feed has just started working. Hopefully this at least helps someone else who may come across this type of issue.

The W3 validator (as per the plugin instructions) should definitely be used!

    Hi Mthelp!

Great ?? Thanks for jumping back in with the solution.

Yes, any whitespace that appears before the XML declaration will cause a problem. There’s nothing that GN Publisher can do to remove whitespace before the feed starts if code from something else puts it in.

    Glad you found the issue!

    Chris
