I published a story last week and the original web stories link was working. However as I made changes to the web story, the link no longer works and it is now just redirecting to the homepage of the blog and not the specific story. Is anyone having this issue with the web stories link not taking you to the actual web story?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • @adaatude Thanks for sharing this topic. We’ll be happy to check on this for you. Are you using any other story editor besides Web Stories? Are you using any redirection plugins?

Could you perhaps share your Site Health information? You can share privately if you prefer.

The only story editor I’m using is Web Stories. In terms of redirection plugins, I do not believe I am using any.

I just submitted the Site Health information privately. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Luckyna!

Could you please try the following:

    1. Go to Settings -> Permalinks
    2. Click on “Save Changes” without doing anything
    3. See if this still happens

    Hi Pascal,

When I go to Permalink area for each story, do nothing and save, it still doesn’t work. I’ve tried various link changes too just to see if there was a title issue and nothing seems to working. The plugin is also performing super slow for me now too, as when I try to go back to “My Stories” it doesn’t load anything.

I have my web provider also trying to help, and they haven’t been able to find a solution either.

    Appreciate your help.

@adaatude Thank you for the update. We received your Site Health information and we notice there are a few redirection plugins activated.

While we will check for any conflicts on our end, could you possibly test on your side if the issue occurs when Web Stories is enabled by itself by temporarily disabling all other plugins and switching to a default theme? Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.

    Hi Luckyna,

I have Chloe Digital as my website support, and I’ve told them the specifics of this issue and to please be timely. I don’t feel comfortable with switching to default theme because my design is custom coded within Beaver Builder, and I don’t want to break the entire site by messing with that.

I’m hoping they can take a peek and figure out which redirection plugin is causing this issue. I’ll let you know our findings.

This has now been resolved on our site. My website developer said:

“We investigated here and found that this issue was related to code added to your site’s .htaccess file. We have since removed the code, and the story links are working as expected.”

Thank you for the breakdown of the steps to find the issue. Much appreciated!

@adaatude We really appreciate the update and are happy to hear this has been resolved. Great story by the way! Hope you enjoy creating more stories and should you run into other issues please feel free to reach out again. If you are otherwise happy with the plugin, we welcome you to share your feedback.

Thank you again for your post. ??
