    Hello

I am experiencing an issue when publishing stories and trying to view them. The story is just a blank white page and if I try to embed a story using the editor nothing displays.

However I do have 3 other wordpress sites with the same wordpress theme, plugins and server (VP3) working properly. No issues whatsoever. Those site use Cloudflare for caching and there does not seem to be any issues. I have turned of the Cloudflare plugin for the site in question but I am still getting a white screen with nothing on it. Those only difference I can think of is the sequence in which I enabled the cloudflare plugin.

For the working sites, I had the stories plugin installed and activated before I activated the caching plugin. For the URL I’m setting up now, I added cloudflare before I added the stories plugin.

If I load the story page that is not displaying and view the console it says:
    ———————————————-
    GEThttps://vp3.me/web-stories/test-story/
    [HTTP/2 500 Internal Server Error 891ms]

This page is in Quirks Mode. Page layout may be impacted. For Standards Mode use “<!DOCTYPE html>”.
    ————————————————

I googled ‘quirks’ mode but I’m still unsure of what to do.

Otherwise, the plugin seems to work great.

I’m not sure what I did different but my first install on this URL was on a subdomain. I do not have any issues with the plugin on this install.

Hi @stonefellow thanks for opening the topic. Very good troubleshooting and thanks for explaining everything you have checked up to now that’s very helpful. This does sound to me like a Cloudflare caching instance but I would be happy to check a few things also from my side.

When trying to check your site you have provided I am unable to access and getting a 500 error. Is the site currently publicly accessible? If possible could you fix this or make the site accessible so that I can check the page that has this issue.

If you could also share your Site Health Information using our private form I can check your setup to see if anything else stands out.

The site is live. I will send you site health info via the private form.

@stonefellow Thanks for sharing the information. When trying to embed Stories on the site in question are you embedding Stories created on that domain?

Have you also double checked that the Story has been published and is not in in draft mode?

This does look as though it could be hosting/setup related so I would also recommend reaching out to Dreamhost to check there isn’t anything obvious with the setup that could be causing this.

this story is on the same domain. it’s a published story not a draft. https://vp3.me/web-stories/test-story/

    I’m talking with dreamhost now.

I did a fresh install on a new domain. No theme. No other plugins and this works as expected. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for the help!

    Hello again,

I have done a complete re-install and I am still having some trouble with using the block editor to display my stories. The story URL’s are fine but when I use the block editor to display –> the most recent stories –> on a page sometime the stories don’t display. I can see the view archive link but no stories.

    VP3.me

    – On desktop I can see the stories when I’m logged out but on mobile they do not display. I can see the archive link, and for a split second but then they disappear.

    – I have another site where desktop and mobile stories don’t display if I’m logged out.

@stonefellow As this is a new issue would you mind opening a new support topic for this and we will be happy to assist you there.
