• Sometimes published posts randomly get __trashed added in their URL, at random times, without actually ever being put in the trash. We also don’t have pages in the trash with slugs that match the new published pages, which was the problem in this thread.

    The only “solution” for now is to manually remove “__trashed” from the permalink of the posts that get it. That’s not optimal for obvious reasons.

    WordPress and our plugins are updated to their latest versions. What could be the cause of the problem?

    A plugin may be causing this issue. Go through all of your plugins and disable them one by one to see if the issue is corrected. If you disable a plugin and the issue goes away, then that plugin may have been the culprit.

    If the above step does not solve the issue, visit the post editor in the WordPress admin or quick edit it. Take a look at the current slug. If it contains “__trashed,” delete that slug and save the page again. You should see the normal slug once again.
