    Hello there,

It’s the first time in 7 months I use your plugin that the dates are shown in products snippets (woocommerce). How to turn it off ?

  • Some weeks ago there was the possibilty to click a checkbox to show or hide the date in search results (in the section for each post type).

I also miss this (lost) functionality since I’ve added the date but now I want to get rid of it again. Which is not possible anymore …

Perhaps the team of Yoast can re-add this checkbox?

    I hope so !

This feature (show the date in search results) is fine for a blog, but for an e-commerce store it’s really bad.

    Hi @kenteush29 and @hgassner ,

We have removed the option to show/hide the date in the snippet preview, and now always show the date in the snippet preview.
    ?
We’ve removed this option because it was leading to confusion. Many of our customers felt as if that setting would influence whether or not the date would be shown in the (Google) search results. In reality, it only influenced the snippet preview in Yoast SEO.

It was much better with that option!

Now it’s totally confusing. The length of descriptions is perturbed with that date on the left. It’s like all my product meta descriptions are now to long because of that! Impossible to know the right length now.

Just a simple question : who’d like to know the date of a product was published on a website? I believe that almost nobody cares about that.

Also I checked some of my urls in search results and it seems that for all products now is shown the date. So a fact is a fact. It affects the search results too and not only the “snippet preview”

@kenteush29 Our research showed that Google already showed the date in most cases to begin with, so the intention was to make the preview more accurate. If Google is showing the date, it isn’t the result of the change in whether Yoast shows/hides the date in the preview. What causes the date that you are seeing in Google is due to both WordPress and sometimes it’s themes automatically adding hatom microformats to your posts/pages. Thank you very much for your answer! And you’re right – I was also confused and thougt that this setting has an influence for the search result itself.

    Nice greetings

It seems that rollback to a previous version is the only solution. Or change the plugin to another !

That change affected the search results style on my ecommerce website. Maybe the guys at yoast support are right but it means that it concerns only the blogs.

    Greetings !

    @hgassner You’re very welcome.

@kenteush29 The change should not have affected the output of the plugin or the appearance of the pages in search results. Did you happen to review the source code of what was being output on one of the pages in question in between the two versions and note any difference?

I only see too changes : the snippet preview and the search results look on google.

    Hi @kenteush29,

Just to clarify, the Yoast SEO snippet preview doesn’t change the way Google displays dates in search results. Google determines whether to show dates and it is able to find published dates in several different ways like in the content of the page, the meta tags, or in the schema data, for example.
