• I’ve not had this issue before so I’m not sure where to begin to troubleshoot.

When I update a publish date on a site I’m developing, it displays the updated date but does not sort it correctly on the frontend or the page listing in the backend of the website.

    For example:
I update the publish date from 1/3/2018 to 1/4/2018. The new “publish date” on the page listing in the admin displays the new date but it does not sort it by the date. On the frontend, it still displays it in order of the original publish date.

Any thoughts as to what might be happening here? I do not have a caching plugin installed. I’m hosting on A2 Hosting and this is a new fresh install.

It’s possible your host has some sort of caching scheme running that’s delaying the correct output, but it should have been corrected by now. While it shouldn’t matter, it’s worth completely flushing your browser’s cache, then loading a listing page in a new tab or window. Try the easy things first ??

There could be some sort of interference from your theme or a plugin that’s preventing the ordering you want. Try installing and activating the health-check plugin and utilizing the troubleshooting tab. After activating troubleshooting mode, the ordering by date should be correct. You can then incrementally restore your theme and each plugin until the problem recurs. The last activated module would be the culprit.
