Publicize/Twitter: Links display Linkis toolbar

    When Publicize sends my posts to Twitter, the link sometimes is rewritten by a service called Linkis that serves my pages via its server so that Linkis can add a sharing toolbar of its own.

    This used to happen consistently whenever one of my posts contained an embedded YouTube video, but today it happened with a post that only has an image. You can see that post on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/ntmtom/status/834447988785295360

    How and why is this Linkis service doing this? Can I disable or otherwise control this via my Twitter account? Is there any setting within Jetpack Publicize that can control this?

    I believe you must be using a different app to publish the tweets that include a linkIs link. The tweet you linked to above wasn’t posted by Publicize; we sent a different tweet for that post, but the tweet has been deleted since then:

    I would recommend that you check the apps listed here:
    https://twitter.com/settings/applications

    You should find the app that’s currently posting the links on your site there.

    Thank you! I didn’t delete the Twitter message you showed me just now, so some other system must have deleted it for me.

    I looked at my applications and found one with the Linkis icon. I don’t recall ever authorizing this app, so I revoked authorization and I’ll wait for my next post to see what happens. Thanks again for the tips.

    Until your next post, it might be worth changing your Twitter password and enabling 2 factor authentication, to make sure no one can access your account without your permission.
