    Hi,

I’ve got a fresh installation of WP with Jetpack hosted on my selhosted portfolio site (Fantasy Game Creations). I also have a blog on wordpress.com (Lotro Adventures).
I’ve connected Jetpack on my portfolio site to wordperss.com with my account from Lotro Adventures. It seemed liked logical thing to do, since I already have an account there and the connection so far has always worked splendidly with another selfhosted site of mine (Dragon Creatures).
However, with my portfolio site a very strange bug (?) has popped up. I’m still in the process of setting up my portfolio site so I had no intention to publish any posts to Twitter, Facebook or any other sharing option yet, because the site isn’t ready yet.
That’s why I haven’t connected any of the sharing options yet. However, although I haven’t connected them, my posts are being published to my Twitter account (to which both Lotro Adventures and Dragon Creatures publish the new posts as well, which they should).

Here’s the proof that Twitter is not connected in my publicize settings.
Here’s the proof that in a new post there’s also no publicize option (not connected).
Here’s the proof the published post (see date and timestamp) has NOT been publicized according to WP.
Here’s the proof that despite NO CONNECTION SETTINGS and WP saying it’s NOT BEING PUBLICIZED it actually HAS BEEN PUBLICIZED to Twitter.
And just for completeness sake, Here’s the link to the Twitter post. I did not post this myself. It was automatically done.

So…. somehow my portfolio site uses settings from either one of my other sites to publicize posts.

My dragon creatures site is hosted at the same host account as my portfolio site, but the two sites are completely separated. However, since they’re the ones on the same account, I assume somehow there’s a connection between the two where it shouldn’t be.

Or it should be somewhere on wordpress.com.

So…. How do I make sure my portfolio site only publishes to Twitter when there actually is a connection? How do I fix this bug, if it is a bug?

I only want to start publishing posts from my portfolio site to Twitter when there’s actually something worth publishing and not tests about gallery settings, obviously. (yes, after 11 tests the Slideshow gallery still isn’t functioning, but that’s a whole other story…. I hope).

    Hi Sheriziya,

We’re tracking an issue currently where if you have two authors on the blog, the Publicize settings from the author account that originally setup the connection to WordPress.com will always be used, as opposed to the settings of a second account that published the post.

Alternatively, connection information is kept on WordPress.com’s server and passed back to your site for reference. It’s possible something disrupted the communication process when an account was originally connected.

From the records on this end, there is a Twitter account associated with this site. Just to confirm, would you like me to remove it on my end?

    Cheers.

if you could remove the connection between Fantasy Game Creations and Twitter for now, that would be great! I assume I can add it in again when I’m ready to publish and have the posts published to Twitter as well?

The other two sites (Lotro Adventures and Dragon Creatures) need to stay connected to Twitter. They are fully live and posts from these two have to be pubished to Twitter ??

    Thanks for the help!

BTW, just to be sure: it’s all the same author (me), from all three of my sites (Lotro Adventures, Dragon Creatures and Fantasy Game Creations).

The last two are on different names but connected with the same wordpress.com account. Fantasy Game Creations does use a different email address than the other two, though.

I don’t know if that information is helpful, but I thought I’d give it anyway ??

    Howdy,

I’ve removed the Twitter account from the Fantasy Game Creations. To be safe, I would verify the connection with Twitter still works the next time you publish to the other sites, though everything on this end reports good for the connection working.

When you’re ready, go ahead and add it anew, then all should be right in the world. If not, let me know!

    Cheers!

    Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the excellent help! The change works perfectly!

Hi Brandon, It appears that this issue is happening to me too.

We’re tracking an issue currently where if you have two authors on the blog, the Publicize settings from the author account that originally setup the connection to WordPress.com will always be used, as opposed to the settings of a second account that published the post.

This is exactly what is happening when I try to sync my client sites to their social pages. Can you help me reset these defaults so I can connect them to the right pages please? My outdoors client’s shrimp recipes are being posted to my professional profile pages. EEK! Thank you.

See the site – https://www.johninthewild.com for details.

@lisagetsocial – please start a new thread – this one is 6 months old and already marked resolved. You can do so here:

Note that the JetPack staff are gone until Jan. 5, so you’ll likely need to wait until sometime after that.
