A while back, I attempted to install an SSL certificate on my website. I ended up having to cancel it and return to http because the certificate was incompatible with certain browsers.

Ever since then, Publicize has been sending some of my posts to Facebook and Twitter with “https” in the URL. (Not all links, just some.) When readers click these links, they get a security error message, since I don’t have a secure certificate right now.

I do intend to get another SSL cert once I find a better vendor, but for now I need all links sent by Publicize to begin with “http” and not “https”. Can I force that to happen?

  • Hi,

    Thank you for contacting us.

There is no option to force it.

The first thing is to check and make sure that your site URLs in WP Admin -> Settings -> General are “http”.

To troubleshoot the issue further, could you please post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

    Thanks!

I am having this same issue. I am constantly getting complaints from readers linking from Facebook regarding a security error.

Jetpack’s Publicize feature is generating https links even though my settings under General are https://blog.musicscribe.com for both WordPress address and Site address.

Any suggestions to correct this issue would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

I have a quick look at your site on our end. They’re all set as “http” as well.

There, we can have more tools to discuss with you and troubleshoot this issue.
