    Hello,

Today on couple of websites I maintain publicize stop working, no updates or any changes ware made in the meantime. I try to Disconnected from WordPress.com, De-Activated Plugin,
Re-Activated Plugin, Disconnected plugin from Facebook ect. no Caches plugin installed.

    ON Facebook developers i get:
    Share App ID Missing
The ‘fb:app_id’ property should be explicitly provided, Specify the app ID so that stories shared to Facebook will be properly attributed to the app. Alternatively, app_id can be set in url when open the share dialog.

I followed this and steel not working.
    https://kb.yoast.com/kb/warning-fb-app-id-hasnt-been-included-in-the-meta-tags/

    One of websites is https://press032.com

Jetpack 4.3.2 and latest WordPress version.

  • I experienced this issue too. Stopped around 17.00-18.00 CET.

    Share App ID Missing

That warning isn’t too important, it won’t stop your posts from being publicized. However, I see you’ve adjusted your Yoast SEO settings to add the App ID, so that’s perfect ??

Let’s now look at that Publicize issue: it actually looks like your site isn’t properly connected to WordPress.com right now. This will stop all communications between your site and WordPress.com, and Publicize consequently won’t work. Could you try the following:

    1) Go the Jetpack menu in your dashboard
    2) Click on “Disconnect Site from WordPress.com” at the bottom of the page if your site is currently connected to WordPress.com.
    3) Confirm the disconnection.
    4) Click on the Connect button to connect your site to WordPress.com again.

Let me know how that goes with your next post.

@peterszky The problem seems similar with your site, however I have more information about the future as we receive a specific error message whenever we try connect to your site:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
    <html><head>
    <title>400 Bad Request</title>
    </head><body>
    <h1>Bad Request</h1>
<p>Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.<br/>
    </p>
    </body></html>

Did you recently install a plugin that may restrict access to your site, or a caching plugin that may filter or cache the requests to your site’s XML-RPC file?
Since you’re using CloudFlare, it might be worth checking your security settings there to make sure there were no recent reports of IP addresses belonging to Automattic being blocked.

    I hope this helps.

I didn’t install or update anything recently.

It seems that the disconnect/connect again now resolved my problem.

I don’t know how big work is it for you, maybe a notification in the dashboard would be pretty useful which shows there is something wrong with the connection.

Thank you Jeremy Disconnect Site from WordPress.com did fix this problem on all of websites, as i was de-activating it and that didn’t help.

I did disconnected this morning as well and reconnected. I also deactivated and re-activated the plugin. I’m not sure if there really is a difference between the two. I’m sure that’s a question for @jeherve. When one deactivates the Jetpack plugin and then reactivates, does that act differently then doing the disconnect and reconnect? Nevertheless, with both of those done this morning, I manually published my blog and it was back to working at least on the manual side of things. My subscribers got their emails and my blog went out to the FB, Twitter, and Google+ social media just fine. Thank God!

    Hi,
This problem is back again, i tested one post and it was shared on FB, now i published another post (new not draft, clone etc.) and it was not published on FB.

What could be the problem? No update or changes whare made in the meantime on WP and plugins.

Same here – Publicize has stopped automatic posting to my connected Social Media sites. All had been working 100% with versions below – did not upgrade/modify anything (to my knowledge).

    jQuery version: 1.12.4
    PHP_VERSION: 7.0.12
    WORDPRESS_VERSION: 4.6.1
    JETPACK__VERSION: 4.3.2

Have de-activated SEO, Security, Cache, etc. — connected to wordpress.com OK

@daconix We currently get a 404 error when trying to communicate with your site from a WordPress.com server. Do you use a security or maintenance plugin that may restrict access to your site in any way?

@gsh2000 Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button to send us the debug results privately. It’s best not to post this information on public forums, as it contains private details about your site.

    Thanks!

    Jeremy hello:

Please see my Jetpack debug info here
    [removed from public forum]

I will delete file after you have looked at it.

Always a mystery, when something working fine, then stops, for no apparent reason.

Please note, I have seen at least 3 threads opened on this forum, all around the same time, all reporting that Publicize has stop working for them. This is most likely not a coincidence.

    thanks, GARRY, Software Engineer,

@gsh2000 We’ve just made some changes that may address the issue on your site. Could you give it another try, and let me know how it goes?

Before you do so, I would strongly recommend that you disconnect, and then reconnect Jetpack to WordPress.com to make sure no one can use the information you posted earlier. TO do so, you can follow these steps:

    1) Go the Jetpack menu in your dashboard
    2) Click on “Disconnect Site from WordPress.com” at the bottom of the page if your site is currently connected to WordPress.com.
    3) Confirm the disconnection.
    4) Click on the Connect button to connect your site to WordPress.com again.

This is the list of all active plugins on website https://screencast.com/t/UL8iHdagB this plugins are active along time ago and Publicize did work with them nicely.

None of those plugins should conflict with Jetpack, or create a 404. Yet I still get the same error when querying your site from a WordPress.com server.

Could you check your site’s .htaccess file, and let me know if you find any rules that may restrict access to xmlrpc.php there?

If you don’t see anything suspicious there, could you contact your hosting provider and ask them to take a look at their security logs to make sure they’re not blocking XML-RPC requests coming from our servers?

    Thanks!
