Publicize on Facebook no longer showing pictures

When you share a post on Facebook, or when Jetpack Publicize publishes a post to your Facebook page, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags in the head to build a complete post preview (with an image, title, description, …).

Jetpack automatically creates these Open Graph Meta tags for you unless you already use another Open Graph plugin, in which case we let the other plugin handle things.

You can see what Facebook sees by entering one of your posts’ URLs in Facebook Debugger:

I would recommend using the URL above to figure out if the Open Graph Meta Tags are properly added to your site, or if something seems wrong with them. If you notice an issue, try figuring out which plugin you use to add those tags, and then contact the plugin author.

If you can’t seem to notice anything wrong, don’t hesitate to post your site URL here and I’ll take a look as well!

I checked the debugger and found out my ‘fb:app_id’ is missing. I don’t know how to go about it from there. Please can you help me take a look at my site URL, thanks alot.

That shouldn’t be an issue; while Facebook suggests adding such meta data, it is not compulsory and post previews will work well even if you don’t use that Open Graph Meta tag.

Looking at your site, I see that you have not one, but 2 sets of Open Graph Meta tags. One is added by Jetpack and I believe the other is added by your theme. Facebook doesn’t always like duplicate tags. In fact, all I see is an error right now when looking at what Facebook sees for your last post:

I would suggest that you only keep one set of tags. Try installing this little plugin on your site to disable Jetpack’s Open Graph Meta tags:
https://github.com/automattic/jetpack-addons/archive/rm-jetpack-og-tags.zip

The post previews will then be entirely generated by your theme.

Thanks for your assistance. I disabled the Jetpack’s Open Graph Meta tags but that didn’t fix the problem, infact it even affected the post preview on my Twitter, so I enabled it back.
