  • same problem here! any help?

I am having the same problem still. I had to edit my posts manually if shared from wordpress to facebook by other users. If I post a story, I just choose not to publicize, and cut/paste in the format myself to facebook manually. It has been inconvenient.

Up until last week, posts published to Facebook by Publicize could look differently based on where the posts got published:

    • If Publicize was set to publish on a Facebook Profile, an excerpt was automatically added to the post. Here is an example: https://i.wpne.ws/bEGa
    • If Publicize was set to publish on a Facebook Page, that wasn’t possible, and you only got the post title and a link, like so: https://i.wpne.ws/bCho

Since Facebook recently made changes to their Graph API, we were able to start pushing more content to Facebook Pages as well. That’s why we made the update, as Facebook posts including more content (like an excerpt) are more likely to attract the eyes of your Facebook fans.

You can customize that message by using the Custom Message box appearing right above the Publish button in the post editor.

We’re also considering adding a filter that would allow you to turn off these new story styles. You can follow our progress on this here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/565

Until we implement that option, I’m afraid you’ll need to take the extra step of editing the custom message for each post, or use another plugin like SNAP.

I’ll post again here as soon as we make progress on the issue I mentioned above.

If the changes annoy you as much as they annoy me, I have found a way to get your titles to post without having to “Custom Message” every time.

    Here’s what I do:

Create your post in WordPress just like you normally would, choosing your category and adding tags and everything. Before publishing your new post, cut the text from the body and then Publish. Yes, you just created a new post with an empty body. This forces Publicize to use only the data in the title like before! Then edit the post you just created and paste the body back into it and “Update” it.

Yeah, I’ve switched to SNAP already, even before Jeremy responded. Jetpack is hands-down the worst product Automatic has ever put out, in both quality and technical support. I really hope they discontinue it, if just to save face.
