Publicize not using Featured Image when posting to Tumblr

@johnnadeau I don’t have any link, since some of the changes were made on WordPress.com servers, but we’ve basically improved the way Jetpack selects images to use with Tumblr, by looking at Featured Images, Post Formats, and images inserted into the posts. We also changed the way Publicize interacts with Tumblr’s post formats.

My problems with the publicize to tumblr feature persist

As you can see, publicize pulled the featured image from my wordpress posting, and included it on the posting to tumblr, with a short snippet of the blog text, and a link to back the original blog post

As you can see, the featured image is NOT being pulled to tumblr.

Generally speaking, I’m posting to my blog using the WordPress App for the iPad, but the same problem is present when posting from a web browser on my computer. I’ve also tried setting the post type to “image” in wordpress, but it still won’t pull the featured image.

It’s a bummer. I post artwork every day with each of my blog posts, and used to get a decent amount of traffic from people who were seeing the images and thought they were cool. But, the featured for whatever reason stopped working on February 17th of this year and it hasn’t worked since.

You say that you’ve updated Jepack to fix these issues, but I’ve always updated the plugin as soon as a new version has come out, and I have yet to see the problem corrected. Any light you can shed on the situation would be very helpful

Thanks for the details. I think the image doesn’t appear on your Tumblr blog because it’s not actually inserted into the post.

We’re planning on doing more changes to the Publicize module in the next few months, so we’ll work on adding options to grab the Featured Image even if it’s not included in the post.

I am having the same problem except that since I just installed publicize I am using the sharing buttons to reblog a few things from my site. In other words I haven’t tested the automatic posting yet..but anyway the featured image is not showing up…what is weird is that it does show up in the dashboard preview but not on the actual tumblr blog…hmmm is there somthing obvious I am missing here? wouldn’t be the first time ??

I gace up and went and got a separate plug in that would allow me to cross post on tumblr. seems like a better option than worrying about this , but the jury is still out, I have to see if it works properly. still using jetpack for other sharing though.
