That’s indeed the expected behaviour. We are, however, planning on adding an option to define your own custom templates when building a Publicize message, and using a shortlink instead of the full permalink will be among the options in the templates.

wp.me shortlinks behave like any other shortlinks, so this behaviour is indeed to be expected. I replied to your other thread here:
