    Hi

I’ve just installed this plugin as a replacement for a plugin I use for Mendeley as Mendeley will soon remove its API access etc.

I’ve imported a list of papers via the .bib import and they all show under the “manage papers” options and are all set to public, however when I use any shortcode, including the default [publications auth=all subj=all prep=all] shortcode, nothing is displayed.

I use VisualComposer, and havetried the shortcode as both their shortcode entry and as raw HTML, but the shortcode is just displayed as text and nothing appears.

Is this a conflict with VisualComposer, or am I just missing something obvious in the setup?

    Hi @davexps !

I’ve just tested compatibility with Visual Composer and it seems there is indeed a conflict with it. It’s a pretty common issue with third party page builders that shortcodes fail to work. Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do to fix this.
You can still use the default WordPress page editor to create a page to display publications and it will work fine this way.

    Hi there,

I have also installed the plugin and was looking forward to creating lists of conference and article entries.

After installing and activating it, I have supplied a number if authors and created a conference entry. So far so good.

Upon creating a new page in wordpress, I have simply copied the basic command line
[publications auth=all subj=all prep=all] into the short code scetion of the page.
Unfortunately, nothing shows up. I have then altered the key expressions to find specific authors or article types but to no avail.

I have checked the “FAQ” and those hints are all in order, the publication is public, I emptied the cache and reloaded the page.

I am not using any 3rd Party content creator suite on this page and simply wanted a list of publications, as the website is for a research project. But it does not seem to cooperate as planned.

I tried the legacy mode and nearly all the other options in the settings menu.

Any idea where this is going wrong?

Hi @spacemanspiff86 ! Sorry for the late reply!

What exactly is shown on your pages? Does the shortcode stay there or does it disappear?

In the first case, you’ve most likely disabled the shortcode replacement functionality in the settings. Make sure you have checkboxes checked for “Replace plugin shortcode” and “Clear tag if no match has been found” options. The latter option is needed to detect if the replacement functionally works properly.

In the second case, go to plugin’s “Manage Works” page and make sure you have a list of publications to display and the publications you need have “Paper is public” option checked.

If nothing above helps, please, let me know, I’ll try to investigate your issue further.

Hi @frier, thank you for reaching out!

On the page a vertical menu is displayed on the left side and a footer with impressum and text. I have also disabled these to test if it clashes with the plugin. It did not change anything.

The page displays the menu and the footer, and the implemented short code as plain text.

The settings “Replace plugin shortcode” and “Clear tag if no match has been found” are checked.

I have created a conference and a paper entry with authors etc. and the works are set to “Paper is public”.

The page is running on Word Press 5.7.1 updated on May 2nd.

I have tried all options and am unsure where the problem stems from – the page has the Elementor installed but not active on this page, does the plugin clash with it regardless of it’s non-usage?

    Kind regards –

    Hi again @spacemanspiff86 !

I’ve just tested the plugin with Elementor (latest version) installed and it seem to work fine, even with the pages created in Elementor editor.
I do as well use WordPress 5.7.1 right now. So, the issue is neither WP version or Elementor plugin.
Your plugin settings are correctly set up too.

Can you provide me the full list of plugins you have right now, so I’ll check for possible conflicts with every one of them?

Thank you for your patience! I hope we’ll resolve the issue soon!

    Hi there,

I checked, the options are marked as active.
    Further plugins installed:

    Antispam Bee
    Books & Papers
DSGVO All in one for WP
    Duplicate Page
    Elementor
    Elementor Elements
    iframe
    Image Watermark
    Media Library Folders for WordPress
    Ocean Extra
    Piotnet Addons For Elementor
    Polylang
    WP Mail SMTP
    WP Twitter Feeds

Kind regards! I would love to use the plugin as intended! It seems to be just what we need

    Hi @spacemanspiff86 !

I’ve tested the plugin with all the other plugins you’ve listed above and found no incompatibilities. Unfortunately, the only possible reason of publications not showing up I can think of right now is that you’re missing inputs in plugin settings -> custom publication lists options.
Please, try, if you haven’t before, to fill the fields with default input:
[authors] [title] ([year]) [doi] [arxiv] [filelink] [supplementary]
Don’t forget to save your settings after this and check if it solved your problem on site’s pages.

    Hi @frier,

I replaced the default settings in those field settings with the ones you provided in the last comment and saved the settings, unfortunately it did not succeed :/

I can provide some screen shots if that helps?
just write me an E-Mail: [email protected]

    Cheers
