Province Box Disappears

    Some customers are unable to complete their purchases because when they select various countries when entering their address, Germany for example, the selection/text box for their ‘Province’ disappears and they cannot proceed to checkout without selecting a province. I have checked the CSS and discovered that element style sets display to none for the field and I can’t override it in my child theme. What do I do? I have zero knowledge of PHP…

    I have ruled out the other plugins.

  • I am having the same issue but for the fields STATE and COUNTRY. I noticed that you have solved the problem. How did you fix it?

    WooCommerce will change the state field type based on country. It can be hidden, dropdown, or open text field.

    Germany has no state field, but the validation is turned off when selected. Confirmed this is working fine in core.

    Your answer makes it seem to me that the problem could be that my payment gateway requires something in the ‘Province’ field… The gateway is by Banco Sabadell so I think we may have to take it up with them! Should I find a solution I will post it here.

    In response to you kamillamonkey, I never had a problem with those fields appearing and therefore can’t help you, sorry!

    Banco Sabadell tells me their gateway does not request the Province field to finalize the payment so I find myself more confused than ever as to why the customers receive the message that they must enter it to buy anything?

    Please someone help me work out what the problem is here.

    Disable “Woocommerce Poor Guys Swiss Knife” and give it another try. You should also rule the payment and shipping plugins out by turning them off and using another method. This will narrow down the cause.

    Excellent, deactivating poor guy’s swiss knife worked a treat. You’re a genius Mike!

    For some reason I was convinced I had already tried that. How embarrassing.
