Everything was working fine but suddenly my URLS stopped showing previews on Facebook. It works on twitter but not on FB. I’ve tried the Facebook URL debug tool and it returned with an error no app id, so I created an app on Facebook and connected the APP ID with my Yoast Plugin, then retried Debugging after clearing the cache.

Now, It returns with another error “Provided og:image URL, https://strictlylegal.in/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/lady-justice-2388500_640.jpg could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.”

NONE of my links are showing preview.

    Website: strictlylegal.in

I’ve tried deactivating and reinstalling my W3 cache plugin too but it doesn’t help!

What could suddenly cause this issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Same here since last update.

Here i have this error message:

The “og: image” property must be provided explicitly, even if its value can be inferred from other labels.

@banikk We checked on the page https://strictlylegal.in/ in the Facebook sharing debugger and confirmed the error of:

Provided og:image URL, https://strictlylegal.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/quotes-free-img.png could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.

We checked on the image you have set for og:image and found that it is set to https://strictlylegal.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/quotes-free-img.png. As this image is 100×77 pixels, it does not meet the minimum requirements of 200×200 pixels as per Facebook’s guidelines here. We would recommend updating the og:image to a larger image that is at least 200×200. You can also view more information on the requirements and best practices for Open Graph here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices/

Please don’t debug the homepage URL.

Try debugging with any of the posts URL, for example: https://strictlylegal.in/criminal-conspiracy-under-ipc-explained/

All the featured images are at compatible sizes as mentioned.

This error is really taking my site down as most of the visitors are from fb!

    Hi @banikk,

Thank you for your reply. We had a look at that URL and the meta og:image. We checked the Facebook Debugger as well but can’t see any issues with the current image which is configured for that post. Having said this, we are unsure why Facebook is throwing this issue.

We did check with a few other posts (such ashttps://strictlylegal.in/bailment-under-indian-contract-act-1872/) and for other posts, Facebook does show the image.

This might be a long shot, but can you try to rename the image file name, on the post where the image does not work to not have those words in it? Looking at the Facebook debugger, there is no error to be found on not having an image and the link to how Facebook sees the page (source code) does have the image in the code, as seen in here.

Thank you. I’d like to add for people who will be facing this issue.

Juts go ahead and restore to default your .htaccess file or just ask your hostring provider to do it for you. Everything will be fixed!
