• Our host finally after us begging for 15 months has updated our servers to php 5.5.

I attempted to upgrade from v1.18 to the newest version of the plugin from within wordpress and the maintenance update has been spinning for well over 45 minutes. At this point I am assuming it has failed or is stuck in a loop?

Could you please provide a way to upgrade our plugin gracefully at this point? We are a production site, so ideally we don’t want to lose the data we have if we can avoid it. Thanks!

Ok so the maintenance never ended so i decided to go back to the plugin page and the plugin looks updated?

    Not sure but crossing fingers.

Wow. That took quite a while. Which host is this?

What I would do, after upgrading, is to go to Broadcast > Admin > Maintenance and checking whether the broadcast data is OK.

Other than that it should be good to go.

    Sorry for the delayed response.

The host is wpengine. They are now moving customers over as part of a beta to php 5.5 from 5.3.2

I also have been able to do different update paths and find that upgrading the plugins and doing the maintenance seems to discover and fix many entries, however the original threewp broadcast tables (deprecated and since removed) look to remain after upgrade is complete.

One path I tested was the uninstall of the old plugin and then installing the new plugin. What is the side affect of doing this? Does it matter?

    Thanks!

Unsure which uninstall you mean. If you mean the BC internal uninstall function, it _should_ delete all BC options and database tables, which is probably not what you want.

Deleting the plugin from WordPress and then installing the newest version should get you going without too much trouble. The plugin is designed to upgrade itself gradually (between versions).

If push comes to shove, then deleting the database tables and using the “find unlinked” bulk action should work also.

    Hope this answers your question.

Wow really appreciate the super fast response!

The tables i was referring to was the __3wp tables. Those don’t seem to exist in the newest plugin when i had uninstalled the 1.18 version and put in v12.

Simply upgrading the v1.18 plugin seemed to leave these behind.
