Protected posts affecting displayed posts_per_page

  • Hi,
    I’m displaying the latest 3 custom posts on the home page using query_posts() from about a 100 posts.
    If the 2 latest posts are protected (hidden from current logged in subscriber user) then only 1 post is displayed not the next 3 unprotected posts.
    Is there a way to exclude the protected posts from the post count calculation?
