Protect folder

I have i site with EDD plugin e Stocky theme.
I realized that if I analyze the dowload page with browser tools i can see the preview url like https://www.mysite.com/wp-content/upload/edd/2015/10/myimage-1500×1000.jpg.
If i am a bit handy in wordpress I know just remove the last part of the file name (1500×1000) and I can find the URL of the original file and save it without buying it.
I know that the EDD plugin creates a protect folder for the dowload files.
Why is so simply save the files without buy?
I wrong something!?
