• Does your software allow for a way to NOT link a word or phrase. To protect that word from being linked ?

    Hi @magicmiles,

I’m not sure what you mean. This plugin only links words or phrases that you explicitly specify via its settings. To keep a word from being linked, you’d simply not create a link for it in the plugin.

But I suspect that’s not what you mean. An example might help clarify what you had in mind.

If you want to unlink a word that is already linked by something other than this plugin, then that’s not really something this plugin can address.

    Thanks for responding.

    Here’s an example:

This post topic is about LETHARGY, and while I want the word LETHARGY to be a linked word everywhere else on my site, I don’t want it to appear here on this particular page. This is the only draw back with your plugin: I can’t tell it to turn off a link on a specific page.

    Miles.

@magicmiles: Ah, I see what you’re asking about now. It’s similar (if not identical) to something that has been previously requested by a few others.

Which of the following most accurately describes the behavior you want:

    1. Don’t link a term if the link would point to the page currently being viewed. Otherwise, link as normal.
    2. Provide a mechanism to disable ALL linkifications for a given post or page. (Basically an on/off switch for linkification, with the default being “on”.)
    3. Provide a mechanism to selectively disable certain terms from get linkified for a given post or page. (Basically everything gets linkified unless a term is explicitly included in a list of exclusions.)

    Scott.

Probably #3 is closest to what I was asking about.

I personally have a strong preference for within the plugin page itself, a secondary window block where you’d list page id # and term to exclude:

ex: 4569 => Shells By The Sea

or if you wanted to do it at the page/post level you’d have to add a shortcode to the word or phrase:

[linkify: -nolink “Shells By The Sea”] So the phrase would still appear, but there would be no link.

    ??

    Hi @coffee2code

I have a similar problem: i don’t want to link a term if the link would point to the page currently being viewed. Otherwise, link as normal.

    How prevent this?

    Regards
