• I liked many of the features advertised and bought the Pro version in the hopes of escaping endlessly modyfing BuddyPress on my own. However, I found the execution to be poor and unfinished, from spelling and grammar errors in the user interface and documentation, which is inexcusible in the age of competent and free Large Language Models, to the difficulty of making any changes using custom CSS (!important is EVERYWHERE). On top of that, the default theme puts form over function with its barely visible grey font (which can’t be changed globally, they recommend opening a support ticket for that somewhere on this forum…), with its small font size, its enormous headers, its childish colour pallete not suitable for a professional environment and as far as I can tell, “colour schemes” that don’t change hardly anything. Yeah, the default theme… the only theme, I should say. There is no way to easily customize the layout, even such rudimentary things as header height, without breaking a million things (sorry, repeating myself). All in all, despite the variety of features prasied by its aggresive marketing (the price will increase momentarily, BUY NOW), it’s not really that much better than vanilla BuddyPress, and if you want a lot of added value and a hassle-free experience, I’d look elswhere. I haven’t used their competitors’ products, but I can’t imagine them being worse.

I have to admit that the support is responsive and helpful, but it would be much better if there was no need to contact it in the first place… Also, they haven’t updated or upgraded the plugin for a very long time, the latest release being just a fix for PHP 8 compatilibity, and seem to pefer publishig random code snippets on Github to put out fires to making actual, systemic improvements to the plugin itself. It almost looks like someone aquired a company and tried to cash in on their purchase without making any investments.
