Program to add subtitles to video any recommend

ive created subtitles but i cannot find any decent program to paste them on a video, what do you use to do that, most well known as virtual dub are seem to be discontinued, and ive never used any

dont mind if you recomend some kind of suite that can do any subtitle related task including adding them to a video of any format, or if it is just a program to add already completed subtitles.
