I doubt most users will be able to make heads or tails of the codex on how to use gravatars hence the plugin recommendation. I am not even a coder so plugin would be the only choice for me to get this right ??

Agree that page is a bit technical :), but it’s pretty easy to set up a gravatar account and then voila, it appears on your site, doesn’t it?

True, gravatar is easy enough. I do my best to stay away from third party and API kind of things but it would work. I always forget about gravatar! ??

?? – actually the plugin you suggested is also a great option – better, in fact, if people don’t want to tie into Gravatar!
