Profile Completeness Not Working Properly

We’re using the profile completeness plugin.
We have 3 roles and 2 directories.
Now, the plugin does work in terms of us setting fields with a % and then restricting the directories to only show members with a 100% completeness. Except for some reason, new members who have not logged in to edit their profile are appearing in the directory even though their % is only 40% (because of a few fields already filled out in registration).
It seems like the profile % is not initialized until a user actually logs in to edit their profile, because I don’t understand why new users would appear in the directory when they have not completed their profile.
So, to me I think that since a user has not logged in after approval, their profile appears in the directory because they haven’t logged in to edit and then initialize the % completeness. I can’t think of what else could be causing the issue.
