    Hi,

    For product’s pages, I use Yoast variables to automate the creation of meta titles and meta descriptions (notably the “extract” variable)

    Here is the problem: The variable takes into account the short description instead of taking into account the long description.
    So I end up with a meta description that is not long enough.

    How can I ensure that the extract is chosen in the long description?

    Hello @lemoulinavelos,

    Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. Your experience is the expected behavior. Using the %%excerpt%% snippet variables pull the short product description and not the long product description.

    In English, an excerpt is a short extract of something, so it makes sense that the short description is used as the meta description. Having your long description in that field defeats the purpose altogether.
