    Hi, when we go to page 2 (or next or any page) no products are presented or the product page navigation. Have disabled all plugins and used twenty-twentyone theme and issue remains and cleared all cache.

    Any thoughts please? Thank you!

  • Hi @screamingrooster. I see what you mean about the second page of product results not working. That is definitely odd. Do you see any fatal errors in your fatal error logs that match up to this issue date-wise? To check, go to WooCommerce > Status > Logs in your dashboard, open the dropdown by the “View” button, and look for any logs with “fatal-errors” in the name and an appropriate date.

    Could you then copy the contents of the log into pastebin.com, click “Create new paste,” and then share the link so that we could take a look? Fatal error logs typically don’t contain sensitive information, so you should be fine to post these without worrying about compromising the security of your site.

    Hi Austin. Thank you for the fast response. I checked the fatal errors and there is one, just it is from a few weeks ago and does not seem relevant. I have linked it here as the issue has been with us for a while. https://pastebin.com/WnPn4phd

    As a sideline, we also display products for artists from their own page. That product page goes to page 2 and beyond OK. EG: https://screamingrooster.co.nz/john-clare/ and then bottom right is a ‘see John’s artwork’ button which when selected goes to https://screamingrooster.co.nz/product-tag/john-clare/ and ‘page 2’ works fine, as it does for all the artist pages.

    Hi @screamingrooster. Thanks for checking. You’re right that the fatal error doesn’t look to be relevant.

    At this point, I’d recommend full conflict testing. This involves disabling plugins and your theme, so it may be easier to do this on a staging site, which is a duplicate site used for testing purposes. If you don’t have a staging site handy, you can use the WP Staging plugin to easily create one.

    Then, either on the staging site or your live site:

    1. Deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce.
    2. Switch your theme to a default one like Twenty Twenty.
    3. Retest the issue.

    If you’re not seeing the same problem with the site in this barebones setup, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which one is causing the problem, reactivate them one by one, testing after each, until the issue resurfaces.

    Let us know how that goes and we’ll go from there!

    While I can see products on some page, I cannot see them correctly on other pages

    Hi Ashik

    Yes, correct. When we go to products via the artist page, 2nd page etc shows. It is only if we go from the ‘artworks’ page we don’t have page 2 etc.

    https://pastebin.com/KXNDa8BZ shows we only have woocommerce active.

    Regarding cache, we use WPRocket. So I activated it, cleared the cache and deactivated again.

    When did you see the last image with our main image? It does not show when using twenty-twenty? Does not show on my private cleared tabs.

    Thanks for that additional information! It looks like you’re using a custom permalink under Settings > Permalinks, would that be correct?

    If yes, can you see if refreshing permalinks helps. You don’t need to make any changes, you simply need to head to Settings > Permalinks and click the “Save Changes” button.

    Hi Colin,

    That behavior is indeed odd. The permalinks look okay, but it will only affect the product page.
    What we are looking at here is a pagination problem.

    As a next step, I recommend a full conflict test as described here:

    Hi Colin ??

    Upon checking your site HTML code of the All Artworks page, I can see that the <Body> classes look as they should. It has the classes .archive, .post-type-archive, and .post-type-archive-product.

    But, for some reason, when opening and inspecting any other page from the pagination of the All Artworks page, none of them contains the classes I mentioned above. And they should contain those classes because the WooCommerce shop page is an archive.

    In fact, all of them point to the same page, ID = 412 (.page-id-412). So something interesting is happening here.

    Will using a staging environment be different?

    Setting up a Staging Environment will be a great idea as it will help us to troubleshoot this issue further.

    Please set it up with only WooCommerce and Storefront theme activated.

    There are a few separate issues (that I doubt matter?):

    1) some permalinks go back to the production site even though I have saved the permalinks .
    2) many of the ‘product’ artwork images do not render or appear

    I have created you an admin user if that will help? Need to know how to safely get that to you, if there is any risk.

    That’s interesting! Well, I’ve got some good news ??

    I’ve checked your site using the WordPress Plain permalinks structure (for any WooCommerce default shop page the Plain permalink is going to be /?post_type=product) and the pagination worked like a charm. You can confirm this by visiting your site using the following links:

    To confirm this, go to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks > Common Settings, and from there select the Plain option, save the changes, and check if it works for you now.

    Now, if your pagination works okay, then try configuring your permalinks with the previous settings you had and check if that helps.

    I cannot get it work with any non ‘plain’ permalinks.

    Using plain permalinks gives me warnings that our 301 Redirects and WP Rocket (caching) and importantly our Comlience plugins will not work, so I will need to fix.

    Any thoughts on why our shop base ‘artworks’ stops the second page appearing? I have tried all the permalink combinations. I changed the shop page permalink and the issue remains unchanged.

    Thank you so much for getting to this point mind! If I had have known it was the permalinks this could be a much shorter diagnosis.
