Products not showing in admin after import just count numbers in each category

Hi I set a multilingual site using multilingual press. I used the product export option from one site and then imported all fields and meta. All my category’s show up correctly showing how many products are in each category for instance, but when I go to any of the products within the category none appear or in the admin listing page. yet I can see them all in the database! I manually added a test product and this appeared in admin correctly. I compared the export csv file and all are the products are set to published, I’m baffled ??
