• Some of my products seem to have been created using an older WP version, creating a conflict on the back end under the ‘Products>Attributes’ tab where even though I have created products with certain attributes (in this case Colour), some colours are showing no products even though there are products with these colours.

On the individual edit product page within the ‘Attributes’ tab there is the option to add attribute, in my case Colour. In the ‘Value/s’ section, when adding colours, on one product page that uses the older version of WP I can only add colours manually and by using “|” to separate them. With the newer update, it looks different. There are now button options under the ‘Value/s’ section that say ‘Select all’, ‘Select none’ and ‘Create value’. It is these products that have been created using the newer version that are being counted in the ‘Products>Attributes’ end where as the products created under the older version are not being counted at all. Is there a way I can fix this without having to recreate all the products within the new system? All the attributes show up fin on the Shop page. I have screenshots if it’s helpful.

Any suggestions is most appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi @pandemoniumparadise,

Thank you for reaching out and detailing the issue. It’s great that you’ve noticed the difference in how attributes are handled between the versions. This is a good starting point for troubleshooting. The fact that the attributes appear correctly on the Shop page is a positive sign that they are registered within the system. To help you further, I have a couple of questions:

    1. Could you confirm if you have updated to the latest version of WooCommerce as well as WordPress?
    2. Have you tried regenerating product lookup tables? This can sometimes resolve issues with product counts. You can do this by going to WooCommerce > Status > Tools and clicking on ‘Regenerate’ next to ‘Product lookup tables’.

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be related to how the older products’ attributes were registered in the database. WooCommerce has a guide on how to use product attributes which might provide some insight.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
