Products not adding to store and cart

    Hi there,

    I noticed an issue with one of my products not adding to the cart. I then investigated, and it seems the issue is much larger than that. I’m not able to edit the variations on that product, duplicate the product, create a new product.

    I’ve deactivated all plugins, cleared cache etc. The problem still persists. Is there anything else that could be causing the problem.

    I’ve deactivated all plugins, cleared cache etc. The problem still persists. Is there anything else that could be causing the problem.

    I was looking at your site from my side and couldn’t replicate the issue regarding adding items to carts.

    Could you please run a full conflict test to identify any issues with your theme or with any of your active plugins?

    The best way to do that is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each until you find the one causing the conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation of how to do a conflict test here.`

    Using a staging site would be a good idea. If your host doesn’t offer that option, we recommend WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

    Thank you for the quick response. The problem with adding the product to the cart only happens with one product, which I’ve since removed from the store page to not let customers be able to access it.

    So it’s only the one product that wasn’t able to be added to the cart. It’s also only this product I’m not able to edit the variables or duplicate. And since trying to duplicate it, I cannot add any new products to the store.

    I’ve also done all you’ve mentioned, and even when all the plugins are deactivated, excepts WooCommerce, that product still gives the same issues.

    A copy of your System Status Report would help us a lot to identify any issues. You can find your System Status Report under WooCommerce → Status → System Status.

    Also, please check for any fatal errors under your page here: WooCommerce → Status → Logs, and look for any recent Fatal Errors listed there.

    Once you’ve done those things, please paste any snippets here in your response.

    I cannot add any new products to the store

    For more clarity, please could you let me know what exactly happens when trying to add a new product to the store? Does the page just load continuously, is there a timeout? Is the option somehow not available? What are you experiencing?

    In the meantime, please could you clear your sites cache and see if that makes any difference? Please see the guide below on clearing cache:

    You can try to add it to cart, it doesn’t work (it used to work).

    When I try to edit the variations of this product, the page just hangs. I need to refresh it to do anything on the site again. So it doesn’t allow me to access the variations.

    When I try to add a new product, or duplicate the product, it saves it as a draft, and doesn’t allow me to publish. It redirects me to a page on the website’s front reading “Oops! That page can’t be found.”.

    As for the cache, I use Nitropack, and used it several times to clear the website’s cache, and the product’s cache individually.

    I am able to see that the product is displaying as not in stock, which would be the reason for not being able to add it to the cart. Please confirm if the product still does not add to the cart when stock is made available?

    It won’t even let me update the stock levels to this product. It also redirects me to the website’s front saying Page not found.

    I’ve also done all you’ve mentioned, and even when all the plugins are deactivated, excepts WooCommerce, that product still gives the same issues

    Additionally, please confirm that you have temporarily changed your theme to Storefront, as recommended previously?

    I did activate Storefront when troubleshooting and deactivating plugins, and it didn’t make a difference. It’s back to storefront again.

    Hi @nicolenoppe ,

    As a next step, please could you flush your permalinks by navigating to Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and resave your existing settings.

    If that doesn’t help, please regenerate the product lookup tables via WooCommerce > Status > Tools page

    Alright, thanks for trying that!

    After that, make sure that your checkout page endpoints have no spaces, this can be found via WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced: https://www.businessbloomer.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/woocommerce-checkout-endpoints-troubleshooting.png

    Does this make any difference?

    I’ve done these, still no changes.

    Now that Storefront theme is active, I’m seeing a possible cause to this problem and I hope you can help me.

    On the home page https://cannabee.co.za/ under Best Sellers, the Feco Syringes are listed. However, unlike the product to it’s left (Feco Capsules), it states (Read more) instead of (Select options).

    It is the same format as the capsules (both are variable products), and both should state “Select options”.

    The “Read more” under the syringes could perhaps mean it is not showing up as a product, and therefor cannot be added to the cart.

    What do you think?

    The “Read more” under the syringes could perhaps mean it is not showing up as a product, and therefor cannot be added to the cart.

    The read more button displays on the product when no stock has been added to the product, so this would change to “select options”, once the variations and stock of this specific product were set.

    My next suggestion would be to purge your caching, and then disable your caching plugin.

    If that doesn’t help, please contact your host and ask them to make sure that your cart and checkout pages are excluded from being cached.
