Product with variations – quantity picker allows picking more than stock

I have been having similar issues with one of my shops also. Subscribing to this thread just in case a useful reply gets posted here first.

Thank you for reaching out! Indeed, while with a simple product, the up/down triangles do not go to a value greater than the available in stock, with a variable product a higher than stock value can be set, in my own testing as well.

However, in all tested scenarios there is a visual feedback with the available quantity and, in case of a higher than stock value is entered in the quantity field, a message informs that’s not possible subsequently.

That said, this could be a valuable enhancement request, which can be submitted from this page. Feel free to do so.

Thanks for the response. It looks like my recollection that variable products behave like simple ones in this respect is wrong.

Yes, it would be a good feature to have. I’ve not been near github before but will take a look.
