I have encountered a problem with importing variation products using native woocommerce importer where the variation products are imported but they are not shown on the product list. All variable and simple products are uploaded with no problems. Some troubleshooting steps that I have done:

    • I have tried to follow all the columns from the template provided (woocommerce/sample-data/sample_products.csv) and yet I still have the same problem. Although when I tried to import the sample file itself, variation products are imported and displayed on the product list.
    • I tried to make the file in Google Sheet and the problem is still the same. I even tried just importing a variable product (the parent product) with variant values but still cannot see the variation.

I dont know where the problem is and how I can fix it, also read some of similar topic in the past and still cant fix this. I use the newset version of WooCommerce (8.9.1), Astra theme with no modification, and no plugin beside Jetpack and LiteCache.

Here is the exported sample product that I have added manually to be used as a template: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ry5Xvq7fm1b0WDmcVHLiauqjKFIQAUX7RxDlaNPlLDo/edit?usp=sharing

Here is my file that I’ve tried and still failed (ignore the same id because I use automatic id from Woocommerce when imported):

  • Hey there, @sigmakicks! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

As I understand you are having issues importing variable products via the CSV importer, correct?

I see you shared the sheets on Google, but I’m only able to see them.

Do you mind sharing the CSV as a downloadable file so we can run some tests on our end?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Hello, I have changed the permissions of both files to be editable by guests.

    Hi @sigmakicks ??

    Let’s demystify this:

product variations imported but not shown

Linked here are the results from the product import at my test site. All of the imported products appeared as out of stock on my back end (despite having 1 item available per variation), as exemplified here, and here is the front-end view.

The key was to adjust the inventory settings at my site, like so, and increase the inventory per item (at the variation level) to 2 items.

Here is the result. It can be restricted to 1 item per order, just to make sure inventory stays in check.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
We will be happy to help you further.

Thank you so much for your guidance. I havent tried that yet and figured out (probably) that editing in Excel caused the problem. I tried to process every data from Google Sheets and never opened it in Excel, and it works without setting the inventory.
