I have a problem with variable product with different attributes (Size, color, dimension, material).
Inside I created 4 variations like this:
any size / any color / any dimension/ Material 1

I did the same for the other 2 materials, but changing the material 2/3 (I specified the material because it is the only one with a price change).

Now I wanted to remove the availability only for the blue color, so I added a variation like this:
any size / blue / any dimension / any material
and I set it as sold out.

But, now I realized that by doing this all the other possible color choices disappear from the select on the product page, leaving only the possibility of choosing the blue color. I hope it’s just my mistake, otherwise it means I have to change all the products by adding variations for all colors.
    How can I solve it?

Exact. You need to add variations for all colors.

@wizy80 Thanks for the reply, so if I wanted to make only one color of the variations unavailable, in this case should I make 10 color variations with the same price and make only one unavailable?
the alternative is to remove the attribute, but it is no longer seen among the choices (on my site there is a waiting list for out-of-stock products, but if I do it this way it’s useless), add it every time it becomes available again.

    Hi @00lessio,

To resolve this, you should create separate variations for each color/material combination. This means if you have 10 colors and 3 materials, you would have 30 variations. Each variation should be “any size / specific color / any dimension / specific material”. This way, you can set individual colors to “sold out” without affecting the others.

I understand this might be time-consuming, but it is necessary to function your product variations correctly. To make this process easier, you might consider using a product import/export plugin to help you manage your variations more efficiently.

I hope this provides some clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    hi @shameemreza,
thanks, just as I feared, you have to create a variation for each color!
this is unmanageable considering that there are also sizes (total 6) or dimensions (total 7) that may not be available in addition to the material (total 3) or color (10).
and what should I do to make one unavailable? generate over 1000 variations? I’m realizing that the variable products part is managed really badly compared to others, it should be improved.
It would be enough to be able to select even more attribute terms in a single variation or make better use of “any variation” to make everything simpler and more functional!

and how could the export import plugin help me?

    Thanks again for the support

    Hello 00lessio,

    Thank you for your reply.

You’re right in that the current system requires you to create variations based on the combinations of attributes you have. For cases where certain combinations are not available, you don’t need to generate variations for those. This can help manage the total number.

We are always open to feedback on how to improve the functionality of WooCommerce, and your input is valuable to us.

I would encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions through our Feature Request portal here:?https://woocommerce.com/document/feature-request-portal/. We regularly review customer feedback to enhance the platform.

Regarding the use of the Export Import plugin, my colleague indicated that this tool could simplify your workflow by allowing you to bulk create and update product variations.

    Here’s how it works:
    1. You can use the export feature to generate a CSV file containing your products and variations.
    2. Once exported, you can edit this CSV file offline, for example, in Excel or Google Sheets, to quickly add or modify product variations in bulk.
    3. After making your changes, you can then import the updated CSV back into WooCommerce.

This process can be significantly faster than manually entering each variation in the WooCommerce interface, especially when dealing with a large number of variations.

I hope this clarifies how the export/import process can assist you.

If you have any more questions, please let me know. ??

    Best regards.
