Hello, I have a customer who uses dots on their product SKU, she was having issues updating the products until I found out dots weren’t accepted on SKU as it thrown the “Invalid SKU” error

Is there any hook or filter I can add to the website to prevent this validation issue?

  • I was able to set a SKU of
    Art…work…
without error. Works on the product page and product list. Please give an example of a SKU which gives the Invalid SKU error.

Also worked with an intervening space. Seems to be just a string.

    Hi there @polsola ??

Thank you for contacting Woo support!

I found out dots weren’t accepted on SKU as it thrown the “Invalid SKU” error

My apologies for the late reply; we’re currently experiencing a high volume of tickets.

I’m curious if any progress was made towards finding the culprit, meanwhile.

I went ahead with testing this, on a test installation of mine, and everything worked as expected. Attaching a couple of screenshots below, for reference:

A picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes, therefore, could you also share a screenshot of the screen where the SKU is not being saved, and the error is thrown, please? https://snipboard.io/ is a good (online) tool of choice for sharing it here.

    Cheers!

    Hello,
Sorry for the late response, you’re right with a clean installation of WooCommerce you can set dots in the SKU with no problem

I’ll try to recreate a staging site of the current one I’m having the trouble with and I’ll start deactivating plugins until I find the one that gives the issue

The site is also using WPML and WooCommerce Multilingual, maybe the issue is there

Also to add some more info to the ticket, the issue was when setting dots on a variation for a variable product, but as I said before this may become from another plugin as with a new WooCommerce installation I had no issues

Sounds like a plan! Please keep us in the loop if you have any new findings. :?)

    Cheers!
