The Product Short Description filters out the percent character “%”. This is a problem. Is this intended?

The Unfiltered Product Short Description leaves the “%” character, but also leaves formatting. I am not sure how Google or Vivino will react to formatting characters. Do you know?

    Hi,

Indeed, the normal “Product Short Description” attribute filters out characters that could break XML feeds and filter out HTML and shortcodes. The “Unfiltered Product Short Description” attribute leaves everything in and uses what WooCommerce is returning to our plugin.

We suspect that leaving in the “%” character poses no problem for Google and Vivino.

The problem isn’t leaving the “%”. The problem is removing it. The filtered description loses meaning for someone reading it.

I’m a little confused. You leave the “%” character in other attributes.

Can you try downloading version 11.4.0 of the plugin and try using the product short description attribute? It should now show an (encoded) percentage.

The Google Shopping Feed and Vivino Feed are inconsistent under version 11.4.0.

Using Short Product Description, Google Shopping Feed shows “%” as it should be for reading purposes. The Vivino feed now shows “%” as “%25”.

You are welcome. For now this is how we will leave it as otherwise it might break for other channels / users.

The Vivino feed appears broken to me. “%” shouldn’t be converted to “%25”.
