Hello. After the latest WordPress update, I am encountering an issue with the “product search” widget. Basically we have the widget added in the site header with the option “button only” and “use button with icon”. This way we have a simple search icon that opens the search field when you click it. But after the latest WP update, it appears like in the image attached, a search field on top of a search button instead of the icon, they’re not even inline. No matter what option I choose in the widget, the “button outside” option remains active. I have deactivated all the plugins, changed the theme, but nothing, the problem is persistent.

I’ve tried hiding the search field by targeting it with “display:none”, but then it doesn’t open when you click the magnifier icon.

We are using the premium version of Astra theme, contacted the support with this issue, they’ve investigated it, replicated it and told us that it is a WordPress problem. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Yes, the search widget works, but the only option that works is the “no button” one, this is why you have to press enter to make a search. We would like to have the “button only” option, where there is only the search magnifier icon that opens the search field when you click it. I have made a video where I’ve selected each option in the widget to better understand the situation. Link below:

    Thank you,

    Stefan.

    Hi @stefangociu

The issue with the product search block seems specific to your theme or conflicts with another plugin. I’ve tested the search block using the Twenty Twenty-Four theme, and it seems to work perfectly.

The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Twenty Twenty-Four
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Change the block setting and check whether it make any difference.

Additionally, head over to WooCommerce → Status → Tools, and do the following:

    • WooCommerce transients – Clear
    • Expired transients – Clear
    • Clear template cache – Clear
    • Capabilities – Reset Capabilities
    • Clear customer sessions -Clear

Next, please clear your browser cache and then check again.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
