    Hello,

I’ve always been using Rank Math because someone told me it was the next big thing when I started my web agency. But after years of using it and doing research here and there, I think it is time to try Yoast SEO, the old school OG plugin. But I encountered a problem instantly.

Yoast SEO does not have an product schema type option for default posts. I have a client that sells agricultural machinery. They have product pages with pricings and specs, but without Woocommerce checkout. Clients should contact the company and they will do the payments privatly. This website also has no need for blog posts. So instead of using the WordPress default blog posts type for articles, we use them for product listings that have ACF custom meta fields.

The problem is, we cannot seem to give the WordPress default post type the schema Product. Rank math can do this (but it has other limitations that Yoast SEO does not have). We also do not need the Woocommerce SEO plugin, as we do not use woocommerce. But we do however have product listings.

Is there a way to use product schema for the default wordpress post type?

    Thank you for your time!
    With kind regards

  • Hi @monkeydluffy

    Thanks for reaching out.

I would like to let you know that for a WooCommerce site, it’s the WooCommerce plugin that actually outputs the product schema. Then, the Yoast SEO plugin takes the product schema from WooCommerce and stitches it together with its own schema data output.

So, if you want to add the product schema for the default WordPress post type, you need to modify/extend the schema markup.

To modify or extend the schema markup generated by the Yoast plugins, you’ll need to use the Yoast Schema API described in?this document. Please note that providing custom code to interact with the Yoast Schema API is out of the scope of our support.
