Hi, When I enable Product reviews in Woocommerce settings, my navigation menu disappears. When I disable the setting, the navigation menu doesn’t return. Performing a database restore brings the menu back.

    Hello @failwinston ,

    Thank you for reaching out!

To assist you further, could you please provide the following:

    • A screenshot of the issue when the navigation menu disappears after enabling the product reviews setting.
    • Your system status report (SSR), which can be found in WooCommerce > Status.
    • Any relevant error logs that might be showing up. You can find the logs under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You can paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Looking forward to your reply!

Thank you for your reply. I hope to attempt this in a staging environment (if that’s ok) because I don’t want to muck about with the live site. So please give me some time to meet your request.

Hi, sorry for the wait. I pasted the status report before and after enabling the Product Reviews setting.

    Hey @failwinston ,

I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue on my test site.

Just to confirm, are you using a third-party plugin to display the navigation menu? I noticed several active plugins related to megamenus, so it might be worth deactivating them temporarily to see if the default navigation menu appears correctly.

Also, if there are any fatal error logs on your site, please share those as well. You can find them under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you have that information, you can paste it into a Code block in your reply or upload it to pastebin.com and share the link.

Let me know what you find!

Hi Jonayed, The log doesn’t show any fatal errors.. I am using max mega menu. I already tried deactivating it along with all the plugins one by one until there were no plugins activated, but it didn’t bring the nav menu back. I also deactivated the child theme leaving just the stock theme enabled.

How come you couldn’t reproduce the issue on your test site? Is there something else I can do to help?

    Hi there!

Thank you for the details. I understand that you’ve already tried disabling plugins, including Max Mega Menu, and deactivating the child theme, but the issue persists.

Regarding why I couldn’t reproduce the issue on my test site, it could be that there are specific settings or customizations on your site causing the issue that aren’t present on a default setup.

Since you’ve created your menu using Max Mega Menu, it’s possible that deactivating the plugin removed the menu, which is why it wasn’t appearing during the conflict test. To assist you further, could you please create a staging site, disable the Product Reviews option, and deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce? Then, activate a default theme like Storefront and check if your menu appears.

If your menu appears on the default theme, try enabling the Product Reviews option again and see if the menu still disappears.

If the issue persists, please share the staging site URL and ensure that all plugins are deactivated, leaving only WooCommerce and the Product Reviews option active.

    Thank you

Hi Shahzeen, I disabled all plugins except Woocommerce, activated the default Storefront theme. The menu displays, but on enabling the Product Reviews setting it disappears.

The staging site url is https://staging.stouraitis.gr/

Also the here are the System Status Reports before and after enabling Product Reviews:

    Hello failwinston,

    Thank you for your reply.

You mentioned performing a database restore fixed the issue.
Please clarify how exactly you perform a database restore.

Also, go to Appearance > Menus and share a screenshot of the page with me.
You may use https://snipboard.io to share images with me.

Looking forward to your response. ??

Hi Zubair, I use Acronis via Plesk to restore the database.

Here is the screenshot. It shows an empty menu but I can assure that before enabling the Product Reviews setting the menu is populated.

    Hi @failwinston,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. It shows that the menu is empty, which explains why it’s not visible when only WooCommerce and the Storefront theme are active. This suggests either a conflict between the Mega Menu builder and WooCommerce or that the menu was created entirely within the Mega Menu builder without using the default WordPress menu structure.

To better understand the issue, please add some items to the primary menu and save it. Ensure that only WooCommerce and the Storefront theme are active, then check if the menu appears (this refers to the new menu items you just added, not the previous Mega Menu). Let me know what you find!

    Good day!

I added a menu item as you suggested and when I clicked save the whole menu was populated again, and now displays together with the newly added item. It remains a mystery how and why this happens, perhaps you could shed some light. How is the Product Reviews setting linked to the Navigation Menu?

    Hi there!

Just to clarify, after you added the menu item and saved it as suggested, did the menu reappear while the Product Reviews option was still enabled?

If so, this could indicate a conflict between the Mega Menu plugin and the Product Reviews setting in WooCommerce.

In that case, I’d recommend reaching out to the Mega Menu plugin’s support for further assistance. Alternatively, you could try using a different Mega Menu plugin to see if the issue persists.

Also, since you mentioned that the whole menu reappeared, did the Mega Menu itself come back, or did only the menu items you added in the backend reappear?

    Thank you

    Good day!

Yes, the menu reappeared while the product reviews option was enabled. The Max Menu Menu Plugin was deactivated at the time so I can’t be certain that the conflict lies with Max Menu. Correct me if I’m wrong. The navigation menu reappeared, then on activating the Max Mega Menu plugin, the Mega menu displayed as in its former state prior to enabling Product Reviews.

    Hi @failwinston,

Based on your explanation, it seems the issue has been resolved since you mentioned that activating Max Mega Menu restored the menu display to normal.

The problem may have been caused by a conflict with the Mega Menu plugin or another plugin. To ensure everything continues working smoothly, I recommend clearing your site cache if you have a caching plugin installed. Keep an eye on it, and if the issue reoccurs, feel free to reach out.

Just to clarify, the menu returned before activating the Max Mega Menu plugin (Just by adding one item to the empty menu repopulated the entire menu). We could mark this issue as resolved, but it wouldn’t be entirely true as we haven’t verified the cause of the error. Also, closing the thread on a hunch that the Max Menu Menu plugin is the (probable) cause of a conflict wouldn’t be fair to the Plugin Contributors. I’m therefore not marking this issue as resolved yet.

I will make an attempt to enable the Product Reviews and keep an eye on it as you suggest.

Thank you all for your help so far!
