Hello, I am writing this topic following a request of a support team member to state my questions regarding the two-factor authentication here,so that in case if anyone else is having that issue they can resolve it by themselves:
I was locked out of my WordPress site. I had set 2FA with the miniOrange plugin including KBA questions some time ago. However, each time I gave an answer to the questions, it said that “The answers you have provided are incorrect”, although I was sure they were correct. So I clicked on the button to get backup codes and it said that “An email containing the backup codes has been sent. Please click on Use backup codes to login using the backup codes.”, but I didn’t receive them. Anyway, I did have backup codes from prior, but there was no room to paste them… So I ask what could I do, as I was in a very difficult situation because of this and any help was really going to be appreciated!
I got the issue fixed from the team member and could then upload the plugin to my site again. Then, I configured security questions again and the issue was over. There was nothing that had to be changed in my database, code or my website backend in general that I would need to be aware of for the future.
Also, you can create a co-Admin role account for the support person if needed (you can then delete it once the issue is solved so as to avoid security leaks)
    Hope that helps. Best, JB

    Hi @jasb1234

Thank you for reaching out to us and stating the issue in detail.

This will help others if someone faces the same issue.

Regarding the backup codes part, sometimes the email can go in the spam folder. If you have received it you can use it by clicking on the user backup codes button available on the two-factor authentication page at the time of login.

There can be multiple reasons of the issue:
    1. In case of security questions the letters are case sensitive so that might be one reason.
    2. IN case of google authenticator it can be due to time is not sync of your phone and server which can be resolved with this link.
    3. Caching plugins can also cause this issue if your server is caching the requests.

I am glad everything is working fine for you now.
In case if you face any issues in the future you can also open a support ticket and reach out to us.
