So I run a webshop in Australia that sells in Australia only.
When I cloned that website to Thailand, I wanted to sell in Thailand but also sell certain products in the rest of the world.

My suspicion is that ever since I added shipping for different countries, WooCommerce waits until the last moment in the checkout to slap on the VAT to make the price of the product a round number.

I set up WooCommerce as “Yes, I will enter prices inclusive of tax” and sometimes the prices show correctly throughout the entire site. Then, an event like an inventory synch or something else rolls back all pricing and the website has the weirdest pricing right up into the checkout, where people enter their country of origin, and VAT is added on.

I don’t understand what causes this, and how to alleviate it so that pricing is constant throughout the checkout process.

What complicates things massibely is that once the prices change, my cache maintains the old pricing and it is usually an outsider who points out the issue to me.

    Help anyone?

    Hi @sachafornspsurfboards,

    Starting here:

Yes, caching could be an issue here. Could you purge all cache using your caching plugin and also delete the cache memory on your browser to see if the prices show normally?

something else rolls back all pricing and the website has the weirdest pricing right up into the checkout, where people enter their country of origin, and VAT is added on.

We’d like to get a few more details about this section as it seems key in this case. By “weirdest pricing”, what’s happening with the prices on the shop, single product, cart and check out pages?

    Thanks.

Hi @abwaita – sorry for not getting back to you earlier…

    Cache
Never mind, it’s established pricing is “off”. It just takes some time to wash out but eventually all prices are minus VAT, right up to the point where you enter you country.

    Pricing & weird
Best way I can explain it is as follows. I’ll have a product which I’d like to show as 19.000 on the front end of things.

Instead, the product displays as ?17,757.01 right up to the moment where I use the country drop-down under billing in the checkout, causing a recalculation and turning the total amount into ?19,00.00

This is a variable product by the way, but checking a simple product, the same thing happens (https://www.surfsupwarehouse.com/product/nsp-pu-endless-96/).

Not sure if this is a clue – when I log on from a browser I haven’t used, pick up in store doesn’t become available unless I enter “Thailand” in the checkout.

I want the front end to show the actual prices with VAT.

In WP > WC > settings > Price entered with tax – I have selected “Yes, I will enter prices inclusive of tax”.

In WP > WC > settings > Calculate tax based on – I have selected “Shop base address”

Display prices in the shop – including tax

Display prices during cart and checkout – Including tax

    Other clues:

When I open the page in incognito mode, the prices display wrong.
When I open the page in regular mode, the prices will display wrong up until the point where I enter the country. Then, when I return to the page, prices are correct.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi @sachafornspsurfboards,

Caching could be an issue as it seems that the price is only correct when the prices are recalculated when a customer enters an address. Could you try purging cache and deleting your browser cache then checking if the issue persists?

*Use private/incognito browser window when checking.

    Thanks.
