The site developed for a client uses Woocommerce and we are encountering a problem regarding the modification of completed orders. Indeed, when you modify the products in the order (addition, deletion, modification), the prices are modified in terms of VAT. That is to say that the prices include tax and change to excluding tax with the same amount (for example: €100 including tax increases to €100 excluding tax). The VAT is therefore recalculated and the final price is false (in our example, the price including tax therefore increases to €120 including tax).

The tax configuration appears to be correct and the prices indicated in the products are indeed inclusive of tax. I would like to point out that the orders placed display the correct prices. The problem only comes when modifying a placed and completed order.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi @mhost

This seems to be a problem with how WooCommerce recalculates tax when an order is edited. Usually, tax settings should not change when you modify an order, but it seems like in your case, the tax is being recalculated as if the prices were excluding tax.

I suggest double-checking the tax settings, especially the “Calculate Tax Based On” field. It should be set to “Customer Shipping Address” or “Customer Billing Address”, not “Shop Base Address”. Also, check if “Prices Entered With Tax” is set to “Yes, I will enter prices inclusive of tax”.

If these settings are correct, the issue might be related to a plugin or theme conflict. Try deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and switch to a default theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-One. If the issue is resolved, reactivate each plugin one by one to identify the culprit.

If the problem persists, please provide us with more details, such as screenshots of your tax settings and a description of your steps when editing an order.

Additionally, please can you share a copy of the following:

    • System Status Report: navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.
    • Fatal Error log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply or share it via https://pastebin.com/ and send the link here. This will help us investigate further and provide you with a more accurate solution.
